Project - EMBRACE

EMBRACE is an active stabilizing walking aid which transforms into a seat. Mobility and independence are very important to the elderly. Many would walk further and more frequently if they could be sure of finding a seat when they get tired. Wheeled walkers are a possible solution, but most people tend to dislike their appearance and its implications. Embrace aims at older users who embrace technology and will not settle for dull and stigmatising design. It is a walking aid with an omni-directional wheel which actively stabilizes the walker and stands upright when not in use. It also transforms into a seat just by turning the handle bar.
