About

Ortner & Ortner Baukunst was founded by the brothers Manfred and Laurids Ortner in 1990.

The practice is best known for an artistically meaningful style that developed out of the artist collective Haus-Rucker-Co active in the 1970/80s. Starting with spatial interventions and artistic experiments, the built environment gradually shifted into their focus allowing O&O Baukunst to assume its current form.
After completing Vienna’s cultural centre “MuseumsQuartier“ Wien in 2001, the extent of large-scale projects increased. O&O Baukunst began to engage in developing residential, office and retail typologies as well.

In 2011 Roland Duda, Christian Heuchel, Florian Matzker and Markus Penell joined the office as associates. The practice is today represented in Vienna, Cologne and Berlin. The exhibition space “O&O Depot” was added to the Berlin office location in 2012.
