Description

Founded in 2004, Rapha exists to make cycling the most popular sport in the world. For the last fifteen years, Rapha has blended community, content and commerce to become one of the most revered brands in the world of sport. We are seeking a Public Relations Manager to continue brand building throughout the world. 


Reporting to the Global Marketing Director, and working alongside the marketing team, the successful candidate will help to execute PR launches and activations, as well as day to day management of selected media relationships.


They will lead and develop Rapha’s presence across all audiences on all global press platforms. They will continue to develop Rapha’s credibility when communicating both product & brand content as well as managing corporate conversations.


Possessing outstanding communication skills and advanced knowledge of public relations, writing and listening tools and best practice, they are expected to understand the Rapha brand and speak with authority about cycling and its culture.


They will have extensive experience of working with PR teams in-house as well as with agencies, a track record of successful press campaigns and managing multiple press and influencer relationships. They will also have excellent written communication skills and creative flair in order to create impactful press releases and asset packs. They will be prepared to work flexible hours and be proactive, seeking out opportunities for advancing our approach to public relations. 



THE ROLE

  • A Temporary role - (Initial 9 month fixed-term contract). December 2020 start. 
  • Execute PR communications across all earned and paid press channels aligned with the global marketing calendar
  • Working with Global Marketing Director to ensure all communications are delivering against the marketing goals
  • Set targets for all key PR activity (qualitative and quantitative) and report back to the business on a monthly basis
  • Manage global press samples distribution aligned with the global product launch calendar
  • Work closely with regional managers and press outlets to understand future opportunities
  • Be a key participant in briefing sessions, key campaigns and weekly content meetings to have a wide understanding of the future of the business
  • Explore media opportunities, where relevant
  • Work closely with Content, Brand Design and Product teams to ensure press assets created are of outstanding quality
  • Provide weekly orientation and guidance for our regional managers and their press contacts
  • Work with Global Marketing Director and the Leadership team to prepare for and resolve all crisis and corporate PR communications that may arise



THE CANDIDATE

  • Have strong knowledge and interest in the cycling industry and market
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing with a focus on public relations
  • Be an advocate for the Rapha mission: to make cycling the most popular sport in the world.
  • Experience of working with large consumer brands where brand integrity and commercial success are the focus
  • Highly motivated clear communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, who’s able to issue concise feedback and direction to internal and external stakeholders teams
